Synopsis

Sara Myers recovers at the clinic under Kristi Miller's care after the seizure that struck her at the diner. Boyd Stevens, noting that both Sara and Ethan Matthews suffered seizures around the same period, begins to suspect that the town itself can cause physical reactions in its residents. He privately reveals to Kristi that he has developed tremors in his left hand — a symptom he has so far hidden from everyone else. Later, Sara asks Kristi whether she would do "one bad thing" if it meant the whole town could go home; Kristi answers that she would, admitting that she left a fiancée behind in the outside world.

Independently, Jade Herrera and Jim Matthews begin asking questions of their own, entertaining the possibility that they died in the crash and are now trapped in purgatory. The theory offers a framework for the town's impossible geography, but it yields no answers.

Sara, still driven by the voices, locks Tabitha Matthews in a barn and prepares to murder Ethan. Her brother Nathan Myers arrives to stop her — he has confessed everything to Father Khatri — and in the struggle Sara inadvertently slashes his throat with the blade she had meant to use on Ethan. Nathan dies in the barn, and Sara is left to reckon with the cost of the voices' demands.
