Synopsis

Tabitha Matthews tells Boyd Stevens about her encounter with the Man in Yellow in S4E8 and reveals that he was the one who killed Jim. The confirmation — direct from the only witness to Jim's death — prompts Boyd to proceed with Jade's plan to cut down the bottle tree and reach the children's burial chamber. The season's long-deferred gamble is finally set in motion.

Sophia, moving to consolidate her position, reveals her identity to the town member Clara and reminds her about a deal they made — the first explicit confirmation that Clara is bound to the Man in Yellow. Henry Kavanaugh, lost in his coma visions, struggles with whether to remain in the vision, which would require him to kill Victor Kavanaugh — the terrible price his imagined reality demands. Julie Matthews remains skeptical of Tabitha's past lives and believes the place is deceiving them, setting her apart from her mother's certainty. Clara gives Fatima Hassan the Man in Yellow's blood to drink, accelerating her transformation.

The Boy in White warns Victor against the plan to cut down the bottle tree, and Victor confronts Boyd over it. Boyd, unwilling to be swayed, handcuffs Victor and sends him to the sheriff's station with Kenny Liu to keep him from interfering.
