Dani Acosta — The Cop Who Shot Nicky

Overview

Dani Acosta is a police officer who arrived in the town escorting the ambulance that brought Tabitha and Henry Kavanaugh back. Within hours she accidentally killed a resident, Nicky, and has spent her time in the town trying — with mixed success — to earn the community's trust. By Season 4 she serves as Boyd Stevens' aide.

Biography

Acosta was assigned to the ambulance in the real world. When it arrived at the Township (S3E04), the creatures laid a trap and killed the drivers; Acosta fled to Colony House, where she accidentally shot the resident Nicky. Nicky died despite Marielle Sinclair's efforts, and Acosta was left carrying that guilt. She apologized to Boyd (S3E05), who remarked that she had only made things worse. She questioned Kenny Liu about the nature of the Township and voiced her distrust of Boyd (S3E07), then broke into the sheriff's station to retrieve her gun; Boyd confronted her and returned it unloaded. She helped Kenny question the residents after Tillie's death (S3E08).

In Season 4, Boyd arrested her for stealing the ambulance in an attempt to leave town (S4E02). He then put her procedural instincts to use: he tasked her with creating a crime scene from the belongings of the dead in case she discovered anything that could help people escape (S4E03).

Personality & Traits

Proud, procedural, and guilt-ridden. Acosta's cop instincts — suspicion, self-reliance, a need for control — both help and harm her in a place that obeys no law but its own.
