The Bus Arrival

Overview

At the end of Season 1, a passenger bus rolls into the town and parks at the diner — the largest single influx of newcomers since the Matthews family's arrival. The bus brought driver Bakta and passengers including Marielle Sinclair, Randall Kirkland, Elgin Williams, Kelly, Tillie, and Nicky. Their integration strained the town's resources and patience, produced several deaths, and introduced characters who would drive major arcs: Marielle's reunion with Kristi, Elgin's dreams of the Kimono Woman, and Randall's conspiratorial antagonism that culminated in his cicada attack.

  • S1E10 — A bus arrives in town at the diner, as Boyd is teleported into the mineshaft far away.
  • S2E1 — A passenger warns of danger; residents corral the passengers and fortify a building. When driver Bakta tries to leave, Donna shoots out a tire; some passengers flee into the night. Jim, Tom, and two passengers attempt to dig Tabitha out of the collapsed house.
  • S2E2 — Kristi reunites with her girlfriend Marielle, a passenger. At night the creatures hunt down everyone outside, including Tom, trapped under the collapsed house, who dies as Jim watches in horror.
  • S2E3 — Boyd tries to defuse tensions; Randall and the other passengers are moved to Colony House. Kelly is found staked to a tree with a rod missing from one of Kenny's traps; Kristi tells her she will not survive. Fatima takes Elgin to the Brundles, which he saw in a dream on the bus.
  • S2E4 — Randall's outbursts continue; Donna puts him out, and he takes up residence in the bus itself.
  • S2E5 — Randall spends his first night alone in the bus, stoking his resentment.
  • S2E6 — Dale argues that the bus people should not be fed during shortages; the argument ends with Dale stabbing Ellis. Boyd's worm transfusion saves Ellis's life.
