Synopsis

Boyd Stevens and Sara Myers reach the cave where Boyd first found the talismans and set it up as a point of reference. Traveling further than any townspeople have ever gone, they find a tree hung with small bottles dangling from its branches — and Sara suffers another seizure. In town, the residents continue building the radio tower but lack a power supply, until Tian-Chen Liu gives Jade Herrera the idea of using electricity from the town's houses.

When Sara wakes, she and Boyd are in a tent, and Boyd shows her that the bottles contained scraps of paper — one of them dated 1864. Sara explains that this time the voice was a female voice she had never heard before, and that it instructed her to tell Boyd his plan is a mistake: there are worse things in the forest than the creatures. Sara then addresses Boyd by the nickname Abby used for him, though she could not have known it. Before they can make sense of this, the tent is attacked by an unseen force. When the assault ceases, the tent is lit up from the outside, and the two hear a loud horn.
