S4E6 — "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter"

Air date: May 31, 2026 · Director: Jack Bender · Writer: John Griffin & Sophie Owens-Bender

Synopsis

Jade Herrera tells Boyd Stevens they must find the children's bones, convinced it is necessary to save them — the culmination of his vision quest in S4E5. Boyd is reluctant, wary of the danger such an expedition would court. Trying to confirm that his visions were real, Jade searches the basement of Colony House for a door he believes he saw in his past-life memories, but cannot find it, leaving the accuracy of his visions in question.

Victor Kavanaugh agrees to guide Boyd and Kenny Liu to the Man in Yellow's car so they can learn more about him. Before they can leave, Donna Raines interrupts to redirect their attention to Roger's corpse, which now has eyes and a mouth like the straw dolls — a sign that the transformation the dolls underwent is spreading to the dead. She also explains how Tabitha managed to kill one of the dolls with the sharpened totem. As they discuss the possibility that people's fears become part of the place itself, Donna becomes distressed and suffers a heart attack. Boyd saves her life, and Kristi Miller stabilizes her condition at the clinic.

Meanwhile, Sophia manipulates Henry Kavanaugh into drinking: she wounds herself and secretly adds a drop of her blood to his liquor, planting a seed of the entity's influence inside him that will take effect in later episodes. After Donna wakes up, Boyd — fearing the many more possible threats the place may hold — breaks down the basement wall at Colony House. Behind it he discovers the hidden door Jade was looking for, confirming at least part of Jade's visions. Boyd agrees to move forward with the plan.
