Synopsis

Fatima Hassan tells Boyd Stevens, Donna Raines, and Ellis Stevens that she saved Kenny Liu by controlling Smiley in S4E7. She reveals markings on her body similar to those of the creatures — physical proof that her transformation has begun. Fatima fears becoming one of them, but she later comes to believe her ability could be helpful, reframing her growing power as a potential tool rather than only a curse.

Ethan Matthews asks Victor Kavanaugh to help him prepare in case he ends up alone — a request born of Victor's warning in S4E7 that history may be repeating itself. Tabitha Matthews reassures them that she will get them out, refusing to accept the pattern Victor fears. Boyd, meanwhile, rejects Jade's plan to reach the children's burial chamber and escape by cutting down the bottle tree above it, arguing that it is too dangerous because the town relies on a single route with no backup.

The Man in Yellow lures Tabitha into the woods and warns her that acting on the theory about the children's bones could unleash unimaginable suffering if they are wrong — a direct attempt to dissuade her from the plan, and the first time the entity has spoken to her face to face since Jim's death.
